STEP POLKAS

Often called "Stop & Go" or "Heel & Toe" Polkas each dance is completed by adding 8-counts of polka steps, beginning the first shuffle on your free foot, which for most will be the left.  As tempo increases try the longer ones.  Some dances have many names and many variations.  What follows is how I learned them.

8 STEP
1-2	Touch left heel forward, step together
3-4	Touch right toe back, touch right toe together
5-8	Touch right heel forward, step together, kick left, kick left
9-16	4 shuffles forward beginning on left

10-STEP
1-2	Touch left heel forward, step together
3-4	Touch right toe back, touch right toe together
5-6	Touch right heel forward, right hook, right heel forward, step together
9-10	Touch Left Heel Forward, Left Hook
11-18	4 shuffles forward beginning on left

12 STEP
1-2	Touch left heel forward, step together
3-6	Swivel hips and heels left, return, swivel hips and heels right, return
7-10	Touch right heel forward, right hook, right heel forward, step together
11-12	Touch left heel forward, left hook
13-20	4 shuffles forward beginning on left

16 STEP
AKA Rebel Strut, Rebel Step, etc
1-2	Touch right heel forward, touch right toe together
3-4	Touch right heel forward, step together
5-8	Touch left heel forward, step together, touch right toe back, step together
9-12	Touch left heel forward, step together, stomp right, stomp right
13-16	Step forward right, 1/2 turn left, step forward right, 1/2 turn Left
17-28	4 shuffles beginning on RIGHT

22-STEP
AKA Orange Blossom Special
1-2	Touch left heel forward, touch left toe together
3-4	Touch left heel forward, step together
5-8	Right toe fan, return, right toe fan, return
9-10	Touch right heel forward, right toe hook, right heel forward, step together
13-14	Heels splits, heels together, Heels splits, heels together
17-20	Swivel hips and heels right, return, swivel hips and heels left, return
21-22	Touch left heel forward, left toe cross
23-30	4 shuffles beginning on left
