Alzahraa
Egyptian Stud
Straight
Egyptian Arabians
Continuing
a legacy as ageless as the shifting sands of the desert, and
as enduring as stone....
In
1975, the model stable that would become Alzahraa began with
the gift of an exquisite gray Arabian filly. Since then,
the stable has undergone many significant changes, including
its serious entrance into customizing, showing, and pedigree
assignment.
In
1998 I began a breeding program of straight Egyptians, and
began learning to customize model Arabians to reflect that
breeding. I also
took the stable name Alzahraa at that time to reflect the new,
clear direction I was taking in the model horse world as well
as the Egyptian and Arabic heritage that had led me here.
Imagine my delight when I later learned that "Al Zahraa"
means "The Illuminated"! Alzahraa holds
Amateur Owner status; all but one of my Arabian customs were
created by Alzahraa, and I do not offer models for sale or
hire.
The
main influence in Alzahraa's breeding program is the
magnificent mare Moniet El
Nefous, the Queen of the EAO. With her extreme
head and desert blood, she has come to exemplify for me the
epitome of Egyptian breeding. Possessing a kind, large
eye, beautiful afnas, elegant neck, and personable
temperament, she was everything a mare should be. I have
attempted to concentrate her blood in my program, both on its
own and through her exquisite grandson *Morafic,
also known for his typey, classic head, desert look, and keen
intelligence. Alzahraa is most fortunate to be the
caretaker of three exquisite Moniet daughters, with a fourth
"on the way"! These mares are deservedly the foundation mares of Alzahraa's
breeding program.
I
am an unabashed headhunter, and my goal is to create models
with typey, dry, refined heads, classic conformation, and the
bloodlines to match. Every one of my horses features
up-close foundation breeding, with careful attention to type
and color genetics. Alzahraa is currently a member of
the American Model Arabian Horse Association-- in fact, I was the president of
AMAHA for many years (as well as their first licensed model
Arabian judge, about which I am very pleased!)-- and IPABRA, with plans to return to
open photo showing this year. My fondest goal is to
recreate in model form typey, classic Moniet and *Morafic
lookalikes, with the genotype to support phenotype. The
achievement of this goal-- classic type and conformation
joined with a dry, refined head to satisfy any headhunter-- I
hope will create Alzahraa's "Signature Look."
