WHAT IS CDX?
Every two weeks CDX combines all new single releases from Nashville's major record labels onto one compact disc. Each CD contains 10 to 20 new releases, depending on the number available for that time frame.
This keeps you up to date on what singles are just around the corner. It's quite common for me to use a song in my lessons and within a week the radios are giveing it airplay. The videos ususally show up a day or two before or a few days after I get my disc.
Everyonce in awhile I get my CD and instantly lock on to a particular song to teach with and shortly threafter my judgement of the song is validated as it climbs the charts. As an example, I was using Tim McGraw's "Indian Outlaw" 2 weeks before it got airplay. And just recently when I got George Strait's "Check Yes Or No" I immediately introduced it as George's NEXT #1 hit. (OK so a good song from a superstar is a no brainer, still, it was fun). Then there was "Thinkin' Problem". A song that took nearly 6 months to take off, along with David Ball's career
I still buy a few CDs from time to time from my favorite artists, or when there's a particularlly good dance turn that doesn't get released as a single. And from time to time I get a CD that isn't all that danceable (though these come in handy for quite times). But every once in a while you get a CD that you just can't sit still to.
All in all, I've found this service to be of extreme value and I highly recommend it for instructors and DJs.
